Interview W/ Fallen & Remy Chandler Author Tom Sniegoski

With The Fallen movies finally being released on DVD and a new Remy Chandler book (Where Angels Fear To Tread) hitting bookshelves not long ago, I thought it would be kind of cool to track down author Thomas E. Sniegoski about his creations. As many of you know, Sniegoski has also worked on Hellboy comics, a Buffy the Vampire Slayer novel, an Angel novel, and his own young adult series entitled The Sleeper Conspiracy. We connected and he shared with me his thoughts on the Fallen movies, what to expect from Remy Chandler in the future, and what else he has up his sleeve and coming up. You can check out the interview after the jump.

UPDATED: The Fallen Is Rising Again

UPDATE! Actually, The Fallen 1: The Fallen and Leviathan was released on March 9 and is already available.

Well, lo and behold. I talk about the newly released DVDs for Fallen and then run across the fact that they’re republishing all the original books through Simon Pulse with all new cover artwork. The original novels are in two book collections that will be coming out on July 20th. The first book collects The Fallen and Leviathan. The second book puts together Aerie and Reckoning. How timely, eh? After the jump, you can check out a synopsis of both books and a short bio for author Tom Sniegoski.

We Finally Can Enjoy The Fallen

I’ve been a big fan of the Fallen TV movies ever since they came out on ABC Family a few years ago. Based on the successful young adult novels entitled The Fallen, the story fascinated me and the whole idea of the main character battling between being good and evil and not letting your family or parent’s heritage or backgrounds determine what you’re going to do with your life. It was a sort of “overcoming the sins of the father” story. I just found that very cool and inspiring. I remember them airing the first two-hour movie and then a commercial right after it telling us we had to wait a whole half a year or maybe even a whole year to see the continuation. I was extremely bummed out about having to wait that long. After all three of the movies aired, I figured they’d put it out on DVD right away and try to make some cash like everybody else does. Boy, was I wrong. Those movies came out in 2007 and 2008 and they just now FINALLY hit DVD about a month ago. I think they were originally trying to develop this as a weekly series and for some reason decided not to move forward on it. That’s kind of how the first movie feels – like a pilot episode. It’s pretty evident through the impeccable timing that this was released to cash in on lead actor Paul Wesley’s success as the vampire Stefan in the WB’s The Vampire Diaries. Good for us. At least they finally decided to release them. There’s two volumes that have all three movies on DVD. Fallen: The Beginning has the first two films on it, entitled The Beginning and The Journey. The second volume is the last movie entitle The Destiny. After the jump, you can check out more on the DVDs.
