First Official Priest Image

The first official image of Paul Bettany as Priest has hit the net. It originally was released through Entertainment Weekly, but then the resourceful fellows over at Bloody Disgusting got a hi-res copy of it to post on their site. I wonder what that freaky pale bald dude is pointing at? Whatever it is, it can’t be good from the look on Priest’s face. Priest is being converted to 3-D right now and is scheduled for release on May 13th, 2011. The movie is directed by Scott Charles Stewart (Legion) and “is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire and follows a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.” After the jump, you can see the whole picture and get more info on the movie and comic.

Vampire-Killing Priest Gets Pushed Around!

The big-screen adaptation of Tokyo Pop comic book Priest has been pushed back to May 13, 2011 from it’s original March date by Screen Gems. The film is being post-converted to 3D, which gives me absolutely no hope that it will look good in three dimensions. The last post-converted film I saw was Clash of the Titans and it looked like a big jumbled mess. I’m pretty much over the whole 3D thing anyway. The last couple of 3D films I saw, about 10 minutes into them I was wishing I had just waited to see them in a regular format. Is it my imagination, or does actor Paul Bettany have some issues with God and Christianity? First, he plays the rebellious against God archangel Michael, then he plays Charles Darwin, and now he plays a warrior priest who turns against the church. Also interesting is the fact that Legion director Scott Charles Stewart is also directing Priest. Both movies are rooted in religion and Christianity. After the jump, you can check out a short synopsis of the film.
